Olivier sent me this offlist. Since he formatted it quoting David
Parke's message with different font color, I'm adding lines of ====
equal signs to show where David's message begins and ends and
Olivier's message resumes:

Re-Sellamat Jim !

I could get in touch with David Parke and he said yes to the eventual
use of Frenkisch by the list; here's the relevant part of the message
:

=====

I'll have to say yes to your proposal. You have my permission. But what
worries me is that Frenkisch is still work-in-progress (like so many
conlangs). If I suddenly have an influx of people eager to learn, I may
have demands to hastily complete portions of the language that have been
left undefined. There are many areas of Frenkisch that have a good
vocabulary and one could hold a reasonable conversation in. But there
are also, I'd admit, some rather large holes. One of the problems is
that I have established a systematic methodology for building Frenkisch,
which mostly yields good results. But sometimes yields NOTHING -- I go
looking for a valid word / grammatic rule using my normal method and can
come up with no solutions that are in accord with my normal criteria.
Sometimes I keep looking and eventually find something that fits. But
sometimes there really is nothing that meets my criteria.
Still, perhaps other users might improvise and create solutions to my
problem areas.

=====

Frenkisch words are created according to a comparison between the main
Germanic languages and, accessorily, French and Russian; that's why I
could predict a few missing words in my own translations (there are on
the Frenkisch yahoo group; it is an excerpt from the Lord of the Rings
in Sambahsa where the parts in Rohirric are rendered in Frenkisch).
And the grammar David has written is very complete and not too
complicated; therefore, it would be learnable if Frenkisch were
chosen.
Can you please make an official announce for the whole group ? Thanks !

Khauris khamsi ed tiel mox !

Olivier
