I agree that LAadan would be a good choice.  From what I know about
it, I think that LAadan's reputation for being a women's language is
exaggerated-- I would certainly feel comfortable learning it as a man,
and to me many of its supposedly feminine attributes seem just
emotive-- but I do think that, as far as what Jim Henry was saying
about the language finding a niche, LAadan's story could certainly
help it to succeed.  One possible negative point is that we'd prefer a
language whose inventor is very available, and it's my impression that
Suzette Haden Elgin's relationship with the LAadan community is
somewhat distant.  It does seem though (from what I read here
http://www.jackiepowers.com/Laadan/LaadanWordBuildingRules.html for
instance) that she is fairly liberal in allowing new words to be
invented, and I think there are at least a couple long-time community
members who would be able to show us around, so I think it could
probably work.
